Mike Latham - my personal tribute.

Mike Latham, take a bow, the brilliant mind that is Mr Leigh Centurions Heritage.

Mike has and continues to be an inspiring Rugby League historian and author. I met Mike in February this year when I was planning my first visit to Lance Todd's grave in Higher Ince.

Mike met me in Wigan and showed me the way  to Ince Crematorium despite having never met me before. Being able to share the moment of visiting and paying my  respect to such an amazing Salford Rugby League  immortal was incredibly moving and emotional for me. Thanks to that one  day, I can honestly say I have made one of the most important and valued friendships of my life so far. Mike  is a gentleman, one who is loyal, passionate, articulate, insightful, respectful and bashful not only this he also has a depth of knowledge that can only be described as bordering on genius. Mike is a devoted Leigh RLFC afficionado, and has worked tirelessly to not only preserve the club's heritage but to make today's players feel worthy,  appreciated and part of something so very special. The history of our great sport continues to be documented and cherished  thanks to the tireless work of men like Mike Latham. The greatest appointment Leigh Centurions have made in recent years is that of bringing Mike Latham back home to his beloved Leythers.

You should  be so proud of what you have achieved with this amazing heritage project Mike, how wonderful  to be able to now know that thanks to you every single player will now be rightly remembered. And all thanks to your years of dedication.

I hope on day, I too could possibly follow your example in preserving and highlighting the heritage of the club I've loved my whole life. Salford RLFC.

I wanted people to recognise what a loyal, passionate, caring, knowledgeable  and humble gentleman you are. I'm certainly very proud and humbled to call you a friend and a mentor.
